Print requirements for the best print result

File requirements for the online designer:

If you want the best possible result, we recommend the following.

  • File formats: PNG, JPG or BMP (vector files are not possible)
  • Minimum resolution 200 dpi, ideally 300 dpi
  • Maximum file size 25 MB
  • Fine artwork / fine lines: Please note that printed lines should be at least 1.5 mm wide at actual size so that wash resistance does not suffer.
  • at least 1000×1000 px for artwork printed at a maximum of 20×20 cm. Larger prints need a higher resolution, otherwise the print may look pixelated. Here is an example:

Are my uploaded files checked?

If your artwork has a very low resolution, we will get in touch with you. We take a look at the artwork before printing it. However, we do not check for spelling mistakes or other text formatting errors. Only the print file itself is checked as a file.

Is the background removed if I upload my artwork as a .png?

Photos without a background are popular and often ordered. The background is the area you do not want on the textile. It is usually white but can also be another colour. Ideally, you remove the background with a graphics program or an online tool (there are many free ones), save the file without background as a .png and upload it in our designer. Unfortunately, simply “renaming” a normal photo file with a different extension is not enough.

The left image has its background removed – the Hollyshirt logo has no background; in the right photo, the Hollyshirt logo has a white background.

Colour differences between CMYK and RGB, and metallic colours

When you upload artwork, images always look brighter on screen than on the finished textile. Artwork on textiles can never shine as brightly as on your monitor, because a T-shirt has no light source like your monitor does.

We work with different printing methods. Gold and silver are available as metallic colours with flex printing. This is possible for simple artwork without shading or colour gradients. Line width must be 2 mm at actual size. If you prefer a particular printing method, you can mention it under comments in the cart. We will take it into account and use it if technically possible.

Colour deviations of up to 15% should be expected, as colours are not identical when converting from RGB to CMYK values and vice versa.
