What is flex printing?

In flex printing, the design is plotted from coloured films and heat-pressed onto the textile. It is a premium, very durable printing method that is particularly suitable for designs and lettering. The high opacity and the different types of flex material allow it to be used on cotton, polyester and blends. This method is intended for small to medium runs.

What makes flex printing special?

  1. High colour brilliance: the colours are opaque with a slight sheen
  2. Very high durability: flex printing is very long-lasting. The tear-resistant, stretchy film used for pressing does not lose colour intensity even after 50 washes
  3. High sharpness: edges can be cut and printed cleanly

What should you keep in mind with flex printing?

  1. Ideally, the design should have no more than 3 colours
  2. Vector graphics are an advantage (if you don’t have a vector graphic, no problem – we vectorise your file free of charge, as long as you have a high-resolution image file, e.g. .jpg, .png, etc.)
  3. A printed area (film) can be felt on the textile
  4. Line width in the file should be at least 1.5 mm
  5. The artwork should not contain delicate, filigree objects

How do I wash textiles printed with flex?

  1. Washable at 60°
  2. Wash inside out
  3. Do not tumble dry
  4. No delicate detergents, more info here

How should my print file be prepared?

Vector graphics (.eps, .ai, .svg, .pdf) are ideal. The print size in cm can always be adjusted. If you are not sure whether your artwork is suitable for flex printing, feel free to write to us at office@hollyshirt.at.
