What is flock printing?

In flock printing, the design is plotted from coloured films and heat-pressed onto the textile. The film has a velvety surface, making it thicker with a velvety feel. Flocking is actually the longest-lasting print of all, as it is double-coated and simply very robust. Different material compositions (cotton, polyester, blends) are no problem. Flocking is intended for small to medium runs.

What makes flock printing special?

  1. Premium look: the velvety material makes the print look raised. The surface feels close to a plush fabric.
  2. Very high durability: flock printing is the most durable printing method. After years of proper washing, the print stays the same
  3. High sharpness: edges can be cut and printed cleanly

What should you keep in mind with flock printing?

  1. Ideally, the design should have no more than 3 colours
  2. Vector graphics are an advantage (if you don’t have a vector graphic, no problem – we vectorise your file free of charge, as long as you have a high-resolution image file, e.g. .jpg, .png, etc.)
  3. A printed area (plush film) can be felt on the textile
  4. Line width in the file should be at least 1.5 mm
  5. The artwork should not contain delicate, filigree objects
  6. Better suited to thicker, heavier fabrics, as the print is also thicker

How do I wash textiles printed with flock?

  1. Washable at 60°
  2. Wash inside out
  3. Do not tumble dry
  4. No delicate detergents, more info here

How should my print file be prepared?

Vector graphics (.eps, .ai, .svg, .pdf) are ideal. The print size in cm can always be adjusted. If you are not sure whether your artwork is suitable for flock printing, feel free to write to us at office@hollyshirt.at.
